Bathroom tile

We watched an episode of This Old House last week. They are gutting a Brooklyn row house this season, and this week the owners went shopping for tile. They chose a very cool basket weave tile for the bathroom floor and it looked perfect, so we went to The Tile Shop, near College Park, Md. today to see what we could find.

From left to right, onyx, travertine and marble basket weave, all in colors we like.

We chose the marble, called Bisbane. It's rich and shiny. Who doesn't like rich, shiny things. We also bought 10 square feet of the darkest marble in the pattern, called Cafe Emperador, and may cut it into 3" x 12" tiles to use as a border around the outside.

We also chose this travertine tile for the walls, called polished carmel Jinshan.
