Poached Pears
Pears poached in red wine...
Your favorite pears, peeled...
Cut in half and cored. Work quickly, they'll start browning but in the end that's no big deal.
A simmering pot: half a bottle of red wine, half a cup or orange juice and a healthy couple of shakes of cinnamon...
Pears in simmering wine stuff, flat side down...
Covered with tight fitting parchment paper and simmered for 20 minutes...
Flip them over and simmer, covered, for another 20 minutes...
Then removed to something you can refrigerate them in.
Heat turned up on wine mix and reduced to a syrupy motor oil. It happens quickly...
Wine syrup poured over pears. Cover and refrigerate. Overnight would be awesome.
Sliced, fanned out and served with some of the syrup, a slice of blue cheese and a chocolate truffle. Poached pears. Dessert.
